Boy, 6, beheaded in front of screaming mum in Saudi Arabia 'for being wrong religion'

Boy, 6, beheaded in front of screaming mum in Saudi Arabia 'for being wrong religion' The child was killed in Medina, Saudi Arabia, while visiting a shrine to the Prophet Muhammad, according to reports
An article published by the website Mirror.co.uk on February 10, 2019 tells the horrible story of Zakaria Al-Jaber, 6, who was reportedly beheaded in front of his screaming mother in Medina, Saudi Arabia for belonging to the "wrong branch of Islam" as he visited a shrine to the Prophet Muhammad. It was an act of sectarian violence. The child was killed after the perpetrator, a Sunni taxi driver, identified the boy as a Shiite Muslim, the report claims.

Another young man was beheaded along with 37 others. Mujtaba Nader Abdullah al-Sweikt was just 17 years old at the time of his execution. He had been accepted as a student at Western Michigan University in 2012. But later that year, Sweikt was arrested by Saudi officials at King Fahd International Airport when he was on his way to the US to begin his studies at the college. He had reportedly attended a pro-democracy rally during the Arab Spring. At least two others among the individuals executed were minors at the time of their alleged offenses.

Sectarian violence associated with organized religion and intolerance is a plague that affects many societies across the globe. Higher access to knowlegde and education will help next generations make smarter, more logical decisions based on reason, science and facts rather than fear, ignorance, hate, prejudice and intolerance.

Religious violence is on the rise. What can faith-based communities do about it?

Violence inspired by religious intolerance is increasing. In this era of turbulence and uncertainty, interfaith action may offer an important antidote.

We want justice for Zakaria Al-Jaber. Justice delayed means justice denied. You don't need to be a Shia or Sunni. Try to be a Human first. The kid likely didn't even know the difference between the two sects. Likely, he did not know his current religious identity: it had been simply passed on to him by his parents.
