Antiviral drug Molnupiravir blocks Covid-19 virus within 24 hours

Antiviral drug Molnupiravir blocks Covid-19 virus within 24 hoursResearchers have discovered that the treatment of SARS-CoV-2 infection (Covid-19) with a new antiviral drug, MK-4482/EIDD-2801 or Molnupiravir, completely suppresses the virus transmission within 24 hours.
Molnupiravir, an antiviral developed by an Atlanta-based company, Drug Innovation Ventures at Emory University (DRIVE), has been proven capable of completely suppressing the transmission of the coronavirus in just 24 hours, according to studies by the Institute of Biomedical Sciences of Georgia State University. The drug was tested on ferrets. It was observed that the treated animals showed a reduction in the amount of viral particles of Covid-19 in their body. Then those ferrets were put with others that had not been treated. None of the ferrets in the second group became infected with COVID-19. Further clinical trials need to be conducted on humans before this new drug can be released for public use.
