Prince Harry’s friend: Harry and Meghan were ‘driven out’ — alleges the House of Windsor is ‘poisonous’ and ‘Machiavellian’

Prince Harry’s friend: Harry and Meghan were ‘driven out’ — alleges the House of Windsor is ‘poisonous’ and ‘Machiavellian’Writing in The Sunday Times, Tom Bradby, who attended the Sussexes’ wedding, details a ‘twist’ in the feud that has rocked the British monarchy.
"The fallout began at the time of the wedding in 2018. Really damaging things were said and done. The atmosphere soured hard and early, but few meaningful attempts were made by anyone to heal the wounds.", wrote Tom Bradby, friend of Prince Harry, in The Sunday Times Did the successful woman, Meghan Markle, refuse to play the game of the "Firm" --as the House of Windsor is often referred to-- and then they decided to rip her life to shreds? Or the real problem is that the palace has been very blatant about tearing down Harry's popularity? He has consistently polled as the most popular royal after the Queen which was fine as a wild bachelor but unacceptable now that he is settled. There are now three future Kings in waiting. The palace can't afford Harry stealing the peoples hearts like his "rogue" mother, Princess Diana. Harry and Megan just basically refused to spend their lives in this no-win game. The world is watching Britain! See how the British press treated her! Truly a vomit-inducing sight to behold the British press unleash its most noxious bullying instincts on Meghan and Harry, accompanied by a social media pitchfork mob bloated with capped off 'patriotism', racism and misogyny. You'll never see them treated that way in Canada by the Canadian press. Canadians will protect them. Did you hear Piers Morgan launch into a furious rant about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle on Good Morning Britain, claiming the couple is 'breaking up the royal family', scorning Meghan and raging: 'You quit your friends, you quit your family, you quit your dad, you quit your ex-husband, you quit everybody'... It's vile. It's hard to understand why the media and people in Britain bear so much hate and resentment for this young lovely couple they don't know - their opinions formed from what they read. Anyone would think they've committed a crime. Is this what Britons call patriotism? Watching a vicious woman spewing hateful gossip on BBC News was painful. Blatant character assassination. Disgraceful. And the growing narrative being formed that 'poor Harry' is blameless but being forced into it by manipulative Meghan is ludicrous. Meanwhile, nothing is being said on how the Royal Family destroyed Princess Diana, inducing the press to hound her to death; nothing is being said about a pedophile Prince Andrew, but loud public comments are being made about Meghan, referring to her as a "gold digger", "spoiled brat" and "manipulator". Isn't that proof of potential racism and sexism? Queen Elizabeth II, who did not include a picture of Harry, Meghan and Archie during her Christmas message, has just released a statement saying that Prince Harry and Meghan will split time between Canada and UK after 'constructive discussions' with Royal Family. There have been several histories of Royals leaving their posts! And if Harry feels that leaving is the best thing for his wife and family then kudos to him!

How did the Megxit unfold? In November 2018, Kensington Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex would move out of Nottingham Cottage, on the grounds of Kensington Palace, where Prince Harry’s brother, William, and William’s wife and children live, and take up residence in Frogmore Cottage in Windsor. The tabloids reveled in what they saw as a royal rift, branding Meghan as "demanding" and a "diva." In the queen's annual Christmas message, the faces of Prince Harry, Meghan and Archie were nowhere to be seen amid the other photos on the desk where she sat. On Jan. 8, the couple announced their semi-resignation. The news spread like wildfire just as Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge and wife of Harry's brother, celebrated her 38th birthday, on Jan. 9. A divided nation digested the news that the couple were stepping back as senior members of the royal family and striving to become financially independent. The tabloids erupted with indignant headlines — "They Didn’t Even Tell the Queen." The general sense was that the couple had unleashed a potentially existential crisis for the royal family, quickly nicknamed "Megxit".

Harry, Meghan and Britain: When Did the Fairy Tale Go Sour? - The New York Times

Not that long ago, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were golden in the eyes of the news media and public. What happened?
