Senate Intelligence Committee report confirms Russia aimed to help Trump get elected in 2016

Senate Intelligence Committee report confirms Russia aimed to help Trump get elected in 2016The bipartisan Senate report backs the intelligence community's assessment that Russia interfered in the 2016 elections to help Trump win.
It was released last month by the Republican-led Senate judiciary committee. It acknowledged that Russia did indeed help Trump get elected. The report undercuts Trump's allegations that Russia did not interfere in the 2016 presidential election to assist his candidacy. Trump keeps dismissing the findings of the Intel community as a "witch hunt" or as the work of a "deep state" out to undermine his victory. The three-year long review unanimously confirmed the intelligence community's assessment that pinned blame on Russia for the hacking of the 2016 elections and outlined its goals to undermine the American democracy. Republicans agreed with their Democrat counterparts in the committee that the intelligence community's assessment was backed by facts and was fundamentally accurate and untainted by politics. In April this year, an article published by the New York Times warned that Russia is meddling to re-elect Trump in 2020.
